I'm Katy, a qualified Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) therapist. I first qualified as a Massage Therapist in 2010 at Edinburgh College. Since then, I have been on a journey through various therapeutic practices and discovered KCR in 2021.
Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) is a series of gentle joint mobilisations that aim to realign the body's correct posture. Many conditions can be caused or made worse by poor alignment in our body. By encouraging our body back to its natural state, KCR can have a profound effect on our physical and psychological well-being.
I believe the body is an incredible structure that can communicate its needs in many ways. Often, pain or discomfort is a clear message that an area of your body needs attention. What I love about KCR is that in treating the whole body, you can first identify areas of tension and furthermore, by bringing back that alignment, the body returns to a normal functioning state which then allows its energy to be focused on healing.
KCR has been a game changer for me and I emphatically recommend this treatment to anyone who knows their body just feels ‘not right’.
What is Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)
Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) was developed by distinguished physiotherapist, Hugh Gilbert. It is a simple yet extremely effective system of gentle mobilisations designed to bring the body back to balance.
The ‘Kinetic Chain’ is the relationship of movement between key parts of the body. No part of the body works in isolation – it is a completely integrated system. Therefore, if there is injury or disruption to one area, the rest of the body compensates to keep moving and as a result, is pulled out of alignment.
KCR often provides immediate relief after treatment and has been proven to achieve long-lasting resolution to a range of physical and psychological conditions, including;
KCR is evaluated by an industry-leading outcomes management system, FOTO, receiving a 99% score. It is ranked as a number 1 treatment in the USA and Canada and it is rapidly being adopted by massage therapists and medical professionals here in Scotland as an effective assessment tool and treatment.
What to expect during treatment
KCR is a whole-body treatment with the focus being a return to your natural alignment. It is a suitable treatment for any age, including children, as we work completely within the range of your comfort and ability.
Starting at the ankles, we work up the body, targeting key joints with gentle mobilisation. You will be fully clothed (it is best to wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move in). We then finish with a deep tissue massage of either upper body or legs to bring a complete sense of ease.
